Years ago I would agree about the quality and reliability of Plextor Products. I in fact own a couple of Plextor CD Burners that were actually manufactured by Plextor.

I am aware that recently Plextor has been marketing DVD Burners that are actually manufactured by NEC, BenQ, Sanyo, Matsushita, and possibly other manufactures. I am also aware that Plextor cannot even assure Plextor owners that the Plextor Plextools software will work with Plextor DVD Burners.

I am not confident about the quality and reliability of today’s Plextor product (See Olli’s comment #4 concerning Matsushita drives). My comment is if Plextor DVD Drives were such a great product why would they have to farm out the manufacturing of their product out to other companies to make their DVD Drives.
