Personally I am an Adobe Premiere. Been using it since version 4 and have kept up with the development and use Pro 1.5 now. For encoding either TMPGEnc or Canopus and for authoring
DVDlab. But I would not reccomend to use this suit if you're a beginner. If the only thing you want to do is cut, add simple transitions and add music, you're OK with MovieMaker. Once you get the hang of it buy one of the intemediate $50-$100 packages and if you realy want to become a prosumer go for the realy fancy stuff.
